It starts subtly then before you know it there is an all out ‘war’ on Christianity being waged by the liberal Left.
Currently in its second year, a series on AMC called the “Preacher” has taken the attacks to new heights.
A pertinent part of the premise of this “supernatural and darkly funny comic book series” is as follows: “Fulfilling a promise to his deceased father, one-time outlaw Jesse Custer returns home to West Texas to take over his dad’s church. Jesse’s mission, however, becomes twisted when his body is overcome by a cryptic force that unleashes within him a highly unconventional power.”
The latest episode, “Dirty Little Secret,” depicted ‘Jesus Christ’ having sex with a married woman before he attends the ‘Last Supper’ and is crucified.
In the seven minute segment, the two can be heard speaking graphically about sex acts and portraying those positions in silhouettes, according to a FoxNews Entertainment article.
The ‘Christ’ character later tells the married woman to keep it all a secret because he has to do something for his father.
To most practicing Christians, this scene alone equates to blasphemy and is an affront to every Christian principle.
Catholic League president Bill Donohue wrote:
“Depicting Jesus in a grotesque sex scene is an assault on the sensibilities of all Christians, as well as people of good will who are not Christians. We have been treated to this kind of fare from some pay-per-view channels, but we are not accustomed to AMC getting into the mud. If this is a signal of what it aspires to become, we will rally Christians against it.”
Another group, One Million Moms whose goal is to ‘stop the exploitation of our children, especially by the entertainment media,’ is calling for AMC to issue an apology and immediately cancel the series. They are seeking signatures on their petition in order to make it happen.
This disrespectful program mocking Jesus and the Christian faith has now gone too far. AMC has crossed a line in misleading viewers about Jesus Christ, but would never in a million years air a show that defamed Muhammad in a similar fashion for fear of instant and violent reprisals.
Jesus Christ portrayed as a s-x fiend who lied to his disciples about the Savior of all mankind’s night of betrayal in Gethsemane is only the beginning. The disgusting episode does not end there. The program closes by portraying Jesus’ descendant as mentally handicapped as a result of inbreeding. He urinates on the preacher, Jesse Custer, because He doesn’t know better, and then shows him His privates.
AMC is promoting and supporting bigotry and animosity toward people of faith.
Seth Rogen, one of the shows co-producers was “excited” about bringing “some stuff” to his viewers, when he described the “Dirty Little Secret” episode to his viewers.
“Tonight’s episode of #Preacher has some stuff I’ve been excited to bring to life for years and I’m SHOCKED they let us do it. Please watch.”

After the show was aired, some viewers complained about it’s content, Rogen tweeted:
“If this isn’t a good endorsement of #Preacher, I don’t know what is.”

Not surprisingly, the ‘church’ of satan, tweeted out to Rogen their congratulations for a ‘job well done.”:
“Keep up the good work.”

Rogen perhaps felt it was a safe move to mock Christianity rather than any other religion, as this Twitter post states:
“#Preacher would seth rogen mock any religious figure in Islam? Nah. Mocking Christians/Catholics is safer for the showrunners health.”

In June 2013, in an article entitled, “How Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg turned their fear of Jesus into an ensemble comedy,” Rogen discusses his then new film “This is the End.”
During the interview, Rogen compares Judaism with Christian imagery. His comment perhaps lends some insight into why he depicts Jesus the way he did recently in the Preacher series.
“SR: Well, the truth is, in Judaism, there’s very little hellish imagery. What’s funny is, as a kid I remember being really scared of Christian imagery. Even the image of Jesus, to me, was horrifying.”
Christians, it’s past time to wake up and realize that attacks continue on your religion.
Many will try and dismiss the show as just “entertainment” that you shouldn’t feel offended by.
If you sit idly by and fail to respond then what will it be next time that you’re supposed to accept as just another “comedy” about God?
At the very least, what can Christians do?
Christians can sign the One Million Mom’s petition, tweet your concerns to AMC, email and call AMC and tell them you want the series cancelled. Demand better programming that does not target your religion.
