Deputy AG Raymond Liddy, Son of G. Gordon Liddy, Charged with Possessing Child Porn

California Deputy Attorney General Raymond Liddy, 53 has been charged with possessing child pornography at his home in Coronado, California in San Diego County, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Liddy is the son of G. Gordon Liddy, a disbarred attorney well-known for the role he played in Watergate.

Liddy was arrested on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty on Wednesday. He was placed on administrative leave by the attorney general’s office, is restricted to his home and must wear a GPS monitoring device.

An investigation began after an electronic service provider contacted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in January. The organization reported that a user uploaded an image that appeared to be child porn, according to the complaint. Then a month later, another service provider also reported that a user had uploaded 10 images of what they believed to be child porn via a messaging program.

Apparently, the San Diego Internet Crimes Against Children task force received the information and traced the activity to a home in Coronado.

Reportedly investigators discovered by searching the user’s emails and chat logs that the person listed himself as being 48-years-old, married and male with children. His user profile, however, stated that he was also 52, according to the complaint.

In the complaint two FBI agents allege that they interviewed Liddy at his home and he admitted to using Internet services by the first provider and the screen name associated with the second provider, as well as other linked email addresses, according to the complaint.

The complaint further indicates:

He said he used the screen name and other aliases to share sexual fantasies online, saying he often downloaded sexual images but deleted them shortly after. He said he might have forwarded some of the images before deleting them,

According to the document, one image was of a nude girl blindfolded with her hands bound together.

According to San Diego Source, Liddy graduated from Fordham Law in 1993 and received a B.A. from Fordham University in 1986.

Additionally, he received a Master of Strategic Studies from the  U.S. Army War College in 2007.

In his capacity at the Attorney General’s office, Liddy focused in the areas of “health care and False Claims Act Litigation, including a multi-district litigation action against numerous pharmaceutical manufacturers.”
