Dem Rep. Eric Swalwell Suggests “Nukes” Unless Assault Weapons Are Turned In?

After the Parkland shooting, Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif. wrote in May, “we should ban possession of military-style semiautomatic assault weapons, we should buy back such weapons from all who choose to abide by the law, and we should criminally prosecute any who choose to defy it by keeping their weapons.”

He also claimed there were approximately 15 million assault weapons in the U.S. and suggested offering between $200 to $1,000 each to buy them back which would cost between $3 and $15 billion.

Joe Biggs, a former InfoWars reporter and conservative combat veteran challenged Swalwell’s reasoning, telling Swalwall that he “basically wanted a war.”

Swalwell responded:

“And it would be a short war my friend. The government has nukes. Too many of them. But they’re legit. I’m sure if we talked we could find common ground to protect our families and communities.”

Joe then replied:

“So our government would nuke its own country in order to take guns? Wow”

Others on social media chimed in to let Swalwell know that his tweet about nukes was over the top.

Dan Gainor, VP of TechWatch tweeted:

This is the best argument I’ve seen in a while why I will never give one gun. It’s scumbags like this who want to take them.”

My favorite was former secret service agent and talk show host Dan Bongino who tweeted:

“What the hell is this? Is this guy insane?”

Remember, Dan, he is a liberal California Democrat who probably doesn’t understand that money doesn’t grow on trees and nukes would wipe out those families and communities that he says he’s trying to protect.
