CIA Director Mike Pompeo, nominated by President Donald Trump to replace former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, is despised by the Left.
While the Left typically dislikes anyone nominated by Trump, this particular nominee will most likely receive tough scrutiny at his upcoming confirmation hearing.
What is it about Pompeo that the Left will find disagreeable?
Pompeo ran as a Tea Party Republican for the Congressional seat in which he served from 2011 to 2017. That’s a sure way to be viewed by the Left as an extremist.
He also considers Iran to be a national security threat. To the “open borders” Left, nothing is a national security threat except Russia. (Newsflash to the Left: Russia and Iran are working together in Syria.)
Pompeo supposedly would like to see Guantanamo Bay prison remain open. (The Left probably believes he loves torture and that’s all that goes on in Gitmo).
Finally, he blamed Hillary Clinton’s involvement in the 2012 Benghazi attack. (The Left views this as an attack against their “queen” and that’s never allowed.)
But there’s more to “hate” about Pompeo if you are a Leftist.
Perhaps some accomplishments and opinions of conservatives can be “tolerated” by the Left but what if you are an evangelical Christian who calls out radical Islam?
Pompeo is an evangelical Christian who attends a Presbyterian church in Kansas where he served as a deacon and taught Sunday school.
Here’s what Pompeo’s evangelical Christian faith tells him he should believe:
1. Jesus is the ‘Only Solution’
In 2014 before a church group, Pompeo said the following while referring to those who believe in Islam, “They will continue to press against us until we make sure that we pray and stand and fight and make sure that we know that Jesus Christ is our Savior is truly the only solution for our world.” He added, “They abhor Christians.”
As you might expect, his statement didn’t go over well with the Left. Pompeo later clarified that he was speaking about only a small minority of Muslims.
2. Struggle Until the Rapture
In 2015, Pompeo said during a Christian rally that worshiping God and celebrating America is “not only our right, it is our duty.”
He listed several issues that America was facing at the time, and many believe the U.S. is still facing, namely that “government efforts” are used to “”rip faith from our schools,” as well as the battle against evil that is “all around us.”
He then said that the battles were never-ending struggles that would continue “until the Rapture.”
Pompeo said, “Be part of it, be in the fight, ask for forgiveness, heed your pastor’s call for action, and great things will be bestowed upon our nation and the world.”3. Christians in the CrosshairsHe criticized former President Barack Obama as not doing enough when it came to acknowledging the threat of ISIS.Pompeo said about ISIS, “We must instead place this threat — with its massive persecution of Christians and murderous expansionist march against the West — on par with those who have challenged the world order before, whether in the name of Communism, Fascism or, now, Islamism.”He warned that the U.S. could not “downplay or obscure” the threat of radical Islam, calling it “the threat of our generation.”4. Muslim Leaders ‘Potentially Complicit’He believes that Muslim leaders are obligated to speak out against terrorist attacks in America.
5. Iran, Terrorism, and Islam
In short, Pompeo believes that Iran and the “Islamic East” are a threat to “the Christian West.”
What should be an open and shut case regarding his confirmation because he was recently confirmed in January 2017 as the CIA Director, will no doubt involve plenty of “fireworks” from the Left.
The Left will most likely question his “extreme” “religious” beliefs even if they don’t label them as such.
