Roy Moore’s Attorney Holds Press Conference, New Accusers Step Forward

On Wednesday, Roy Moore’s attorney, Phillip L. Jauregui released new information during a press conference about Moore’s accuser, Beverly Young Nelson, who is represented by Gloria Allred. Immediately following the press conference, two new accusers stepped forward.

Jauregui said Nelson indicated during her recent press conference with Allred, that she never had any contact with Moore following the day she claims Moore behaved inappropriately toward her.

Jauregui attempted to refute Nelson’s statement by saying:

“As it turns out, in 1999, Ms. Nelson filed a divorce action against her then husband, Mr. Harris.

Guess who that case was before?

It was filed in Etowah County and the judge who signed was Judge Roy S. Moore, Circuit Court Judge of Etowah County.

There was contact.”

Did she not recognize the name and the face of the man some 20 plus years later?

Moore’s naysayers believe he should recognize his accusers from 40 years ago.

Jauregui also called for Allred to immediately release the accuser’s yearbook to a neutral custodian so that a handwriting expert could examine the age of the ink, the dents on the page and other pertinent information that can only be determined with an inspection of the original document.

Jauregui pointed out some obvious discrepancies in the yearbook entry, allegedly written by Moore, that he asserts could not have been made by Moore.

Jauregui stated the following:

  1. Moore’s handwriting expert believes that the date “1977”, written twice in the year book entry, was not written by the same person because the sevens are not the same;
  2. Discrepancies surround “Olde” Hickory House but he did not elaborate;
  3. Jauregui says Moore claims he never remembers putting the initials “D.A.” on any document because he was an assistant district attorney.
    1. However, Moore says he does remember his assistant, when he was a circuit court judge, signing his initials on documents that Moore also signed.
    2. Moore maintains through his attorney that his assistant’s initials were “D.A.” (Delbert Adams) and that those initials appeared on Nelson’s divorce decree which Moore signed and his assistant initialed.

Almost immediately following the press conference, a sixth accuser stepped forward to allege that when she was 28 years old, Moore “grabbed her buttocks” when she was leaving his office following legal business she was conducting with her mother, in 1991.

Tina Johnson indicates she had gone to the Moore’s law office to sign over custody of her 12-year-old son to her mother because she was going through a divorce and unemployed.

Johnson told that almost immediately Moore began flirting with her.

Johnson said:

“He kept commenting on my looks, telling me how pretty I was, how nice I looked. He was saying that my eyes were beautiful.”

It made her uncomfortable. “I was thinking, can we hurry up and get out of here?”

She goes on to claim that at one point Moore came around to the front of the desk and was so close she could smell his breath. She contends he also asked questions about her young daughters, including the color of their eyes and if there were as pretty as her.

She further states that her mother got up to leave with Johnson close behind.

Johnson says it was at that point Moore grabbed her buttocks.

“He didn’t pinch it; he grabbed it.”

She said because she was “so surprised” she didn’t tell her mother.

Finally, a seventh woman spoke also reported to on Wednesday that when she was 17 years old in 1982, Moore who was in his 30s, asked her out on a date.

The accuser asked Moore if he knew she was 17, to which he allegedly responded “Yeah, I go out with girls your age all of the time.” She says she turned him down and Moore walked away.

The legal age of consent in Alabama in 1982 and now is 16.

Time will tell how the public will react to these latest allegations from 26 and 35 years ago, respectively.
