It’s fair to say these days that the Liberal Left and the Conservative Right may never meet eye-to-eye on anything. That point was driven home when CNN’s Don Lemon made what I’m sure he considered to be an “astute” observation. Rep. Steve Scalise’s (R-LA) response to Lemon on social media was priceless.
The new buzzwords that the Left is using against the Republicans are “political violence.”
In a nutshell, the Left deems any words or behaviors by Republicans that are not agreeable to the Left to be “political violence.”
Take for example, billionaire Democratic donor Tom Steyer who recently accused Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) of political violence when he tweeted then deleted: “We can not allow Soros, Steyer, and Bloomberg to BUY this election! Get out and vote Republican November 6th. #MAGA”
Steyer concluded that because he and the other two men McCarthy named in the tweet are Jewish, that McCarthy was using anti-Semitic words that denoted political violence.
Fast forward to last Monday night when Lemon was addressing the issue of political violence on his show.
“This is not equal. The right-wing group killed the woman in Charlottesville. This guy is a right-winger who killed the people in the synagogue. The right-winger sent bombs to CNN and to Democrats. I don’t see Democrats killing people because of political — yeah, there may be democratic operatives who are out there.”
He also said that political violence was “for the most part” committed by “extreme right-wingers.”
There is only one problem with Lemon’s liberal “logic” and that is Scalise was a victim of a “left-wing activist with an online history of animosity toward President Trump and Republicans.”
As he fired his gun, he yelled “this is for health care” during the shooting, according to one of the victims.
Sen. Rand Paul (KY) who was there during the shooting and a potential victim himself, remembers the horrific scene.
“I was there at the ballfield when Steven Scalise almost died from a very, very angry, violent man who was incited, really, by rhetoric on the left,” Paul said.
“And this hasn’t been reported enough: When he came on to the ball field with a semiautomatic weapon, firing probably close to 200 shots at us, shooting five people and almost killing Steve Scalise, he was yelling, ‘This is for health care!’ He also had a list of conservative legislators–Republicans–in his pocket, that he was going to kill.”
Lemon, who possibly lives in a cave or at least listens to CNN for his news, was obviously espousing rhetoric that attempts to blame Republicans and especially President Donald Trump, for the sick behaviors of others who have hate in their hearts.
It makes you want to roll your eyes sometimes at the absurdity of what the liberal Left comes up with and that is apparently how Scalise felt when he heard Lemon’s statement.
Scalise tweeted “eyes” emoji with a link to Lemon’s statement.
Scalise’s tweet accurately summed up the feelings of most Americans.
