Trump Signs Order Regarding Immigrant Children. Should You Worry?

Amid the public outcry, mostly from the liberal Left to keep illegal immigrant children together with their “parents” at the border, President Donald Trump signed an Executive Order which will allow “families” to remain together.

As many know, at least some of those adults accompanying children are not relatives but are instead using the children to enter the United States or for far worse reasons.

Once Trump signed the EO, many on the Left cheered because they had hoped to force Trump to stop separating “families.”

The Left’s “win” makes it safer for the children, right?

Failing to recognize an existing 2015 Flores Settlement requiring in part that illegal immigrant children be separated from “unrelated adults and delinquent offenders” at the border and the 2008 William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act that also requires children to be separated from adults, the liberal Left wanted nothing short of family unity.

What they have actually succeeded in doing is putting children more at risk of being sex trafficked and used for other nefarious purposes.

It is less likely now that children will feel free to tell the Department of Homeland Security officials that the adults with them are not actually their parents.

Good job, liberals! (#sarcasm)

But at least the ACLU is happy now, right?

Instead, the ACLU immediately jumped on their “high horse” and took credit for “bringing Trump to his knees.”

The organization tweeted:

“President Trump has been brought to his knees because of massive public pressure, and our lawsuit that we filed on February 26. Kids should not have been separated from their parents in the first place — and they still don’t belong in jail.

Next, the organization belittled Trump’s solution for the crisis by tweeting:

“Trump’s alleged solution to this crisis of his own making is months too late. It’s a crisis that should never have happened, and it’s caused irreparable damage to thousands of immigrant families.”

The ACLU concluded by stating in two tweets that the EO does nothing to fix the problem:

“An eleventh-hour executive order doesn’t fix the harm done to thousands of children and their parents. Trump’s order replaces one crisis for another: children don’t belong in jail at all, even with their parents, under any circumstances.

If thinks placing families in jail indefinitely is what people have been asking for, he is grossly mistaken.

What is the takeaway from this?

The Left is NEVER happy no matter what.

Because they have an agenda and it has nothing to do with “caring about children”.

The Left wants to do whatever it can to thwart this President’s efforts in protecting our borders. The Left wants open borders, period!!!

If they truly cared about children then there would have been a public outcry from the Left when former President Obama separated children when the Central American refugees were brought to this country.

Also, where was the sympathy for the children when the ACLU alleged that immigrant children were mistreated in custody during the Obama years?

There were also no public expressions of disapproval from the left or fake “crocodile tears” from MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow then either.

What does Trump’s EO mean for you and me?

1) The ACLU will proceed with suing the Trump administration to get children at the border released into the custody of relatives rather than allow them to be detained for months and perhaps years with their parents.

In other words, families will not remain together (as the Left claimed was necessary) because parents will remain in detention going through the process while their children will live someplace else.

2) A court may challenge the EO as being an overreach of the powers of the Executive branch.  No President should be allowed to create law. It’s unconstitutional.

Obama signed an executive order attempting to create a solution for DACA because Congress refused to act. While it has never been adjudicated, Obama may have created law which is not a function of the Executive branch.

3) In addition, the EO signed today by Trump, calls for Attorney General Sessions to request that a U.S. District Court “negotiate a modification to the settlement that will allow the new detention policy to be set in motion.”

It is unlikely that a court would agree to modify an agreement that took decades of litigation to arrive at.

Obviously, the court at the time believed the agreement to be the correct solution to the issue of illegal immigrant children.

Why would a court want to change it now?

What has changed to convince a court that the 2015 agreement should be amended as it pertains to separating children?

4) Finally, the GOP Congress is working on a permanent solution to the crisis at the border in regards to keeping families together. It is Congress’s responsibility to pass law that will avert any future crisis should they believe a crisis exists now or may in the future.

As is typical of the Left, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. has expressed little interest in supporting the bill but that could change.

If Democrats won’t support the GOP fix to end the issue of separating children at the border then it will become even more clear that Democrats are using children as pawns in their political game.

In the meantime, Trump has indicated and placed it in the EO as well, that there is still a zero tolerance policy at the border. He understands the importance of maintaining our borders for the safety and security of Americans and that has not changed.

The only thing that has changed is that children will be housed with either their parents, other relatives or God forbid, sex traffickers and pedophiles.

Should the children end up with pedophiles because of the Left’s pressure to change the “policy” of separating families at the border then liberals will have to bear that responsibility.
