(VIDEO) Rachel Maddow’s ‘Big Reveal’ of President Donald Trump’s 2005 Tax Returns Falls Flat

In a “too good to be true” moment or so she thought, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow tweeted twice that she had found the “gold at the end of the rainbow,” (my words not hers) aka President Donald Trump’s tax returns for 2005.

One could almost feel her left-leaning excitement in what she billed as an “Exclusive Look At Trump’s 2005 Tax Return”

Not to be outdone by the MSNBC host, the White House released Trump’s tax information before Maddow’s broadcast aired, indicating in a White House statement that Trump had paid $38 million in income taxes that year, “after taking into account large scale depreciation for construction, on an income of more than $150 million dollars.”

The White House also released a statement which chided Maddow for a embarrassing attempt to increase ratings.

David Shepardson, a Reuter Reporter, tweeted the White House statement:

The White House statement also stated:

“Before being elected President, Mr. Trump was one of the most successful businessmen in the world with a responsibility to his company, his family and his employees to pay no more tax than legally required.”

Additionally, the White House reminded Maddow and MSNBC that it is “totally illegal to steal and publish tax returns” and stated:

“The dishonest media can continue to make this part of their agenda, while the President will focus on his, which includes tax reform that will benefit all Americans.”

All I can say is “Thank you, Rachel” for publicly proving what those on the right already knew. Trump is a successful businessman who you at MSNBC and others could possibly learn from, if only you weren’t busy chasing ratings.
